“Slamma Jamma”: ‘It’s an emotional roller coaster’

If you like drama, basketball, and dunking, then you’ll love “Slamma Jamma.”

“It’s an emotional roller coaster type movie,”said the film’s lead star Chris Staples.

“Slamma Jamma” follows a former basketball star as he prepares for a national slam dunk competition after being released from prison. Unfortunately, he served time for a crime he didn’t commit.

“There’s going to be times in this movie when you’re going to laugh, there’s going to be times when you’re angry, there might be times when you might shed a tear, and there’s going to be times when you’re really excited because of all the things going on,” explained Staples.

Also, this movie has star power. Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and former “Bash Brother” Jose Canseco are apart of the cast of ‘Slamma Jamma.” Staples talked about being on set with Irvin and Canseco. “I’m a big fan of football, so Michael Irvin was one of my favorite receivers to watch. So, to be on set with him was very different,” said Staples.  “He was a good guy; very funny, very personable to talk to. Jose Canseco was just as funny. They were all good people, and they were all out there ready to work.”

According to Staples, fans will be satisfied with the dunks! “There are no stunt doubles, you’ll see some of the best dunkers in the world. You watched the NBA dunk contest and you were dissatisfied, but you won’t be dissatisfied with these guys because they are the best.”

“Slamma Jamma” in theaters March 24th.
