An amazing Inside-the-park grand slam(watch)

Cleveland Browns waive player hours before he was to throw out first pitch for Indians

Talk about savage! A few hours before he was set to throw out the first pitch for the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns waived S Tyvis Powell. Powell, who played at Ohio State and played for the Seahawks last season, was signed by the Browns after he was waived by Seattle in February.

According to ESPN, Powell is still expected to throw out the first pitch tonight at Progressive Field. According to Cleveland.com, the Browns were unaware that Powell was throwing out the first pitch for the Indians. The Indians start a three-game set against the White Sox tonight.

Wow! This is just awful!!

Matt Harvey suspended by Mets

Mets’ star pitcher Matt Harvey has been suspended three games for violating team rules. GM Sandy Alderson announced the suspension Sunday morning. The Mets have not disclosed the violation.

Harvey was scheduled to start Sunday against the Marlins. Lefty Adam Wilk will start in place of Harvey on Sunday.

Fenway shows Adam Jones some love!

Yesterday, Orioles’ OF Adam Jones was called the “N” word and had peanuts thrown at him in Boston. Today, Red Sox’s fans tried to make up for those despicable acts. During his first at-bat, Jones received a standing ovation. The Boston Red Sox organization has since apologized to Jones.

Pirates’ Starling Marte suspended for PEDs

A big blow was dealt to the Pittsburgh Pirates today. MLB announced that OF Starling Marte will be suspended for 80 games after testing positive for the ban PED Nandrolone.  Because of the suspension, Marte would not be eligible for the postseason if the Pirates were to make it. Marte will begin the suspension now.  He will be able to return in July.

Marte, 28, released a statement on Tuesday:

“I have been informed that I have tested positive in one of the tests that are regularly done in my job. In this very difficult moment I apologize to my family, the Pittsburgh Pirates, my teammates, my fans, and baseball in general. Neglect and lack of knowledge have led me to this mistake with the high price to pay of being away from the field that I enjoy and love so much. With much embarrassment and helplessness, I ask for forgiveness for unintentionally disrespecting so many people who have trusted in my work and have supported me so much. I promise to learn the lesson that this ordeal has left me. God bless you.”

The Pirates will have a hard time replacing what Marte brings to the table!

Tim Tebow’s manager: ‘He’s the leader on the team already’

Tim Tebow has gotten off to an okay start with the Columbia Fireflies (Mets Class A affiliate).  After five games, Tebow is batting .200, with 2 home runs and 5 RBI, but his manager is happy with Tebow the leader.

“He’s the leader on the team already,” manager Jose Leger told TMZ Sports.

We can question Tebow’s ability, but you can’t question his leadership ability. He was a leader at Florida, a leader with the Broncos, and now a leader with the Fireflies!

Ryan Howard is back!

Former Phillies’ 1B Ryan Howard is back! Howard signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves.

The 37-year old Howard will go to Triple-A Gwinnett. Before going to Triple-A, Howard will have an extended spring training.

The 13-year veteran did have 25 home runs for the Phillies last season, so maybe he has some production left as a part-time player.
