Why Nick Young and the Warriors are perfect together

The Golden State Warriors may become a destination for players who are trying to rehabilitate their careers and reputation. Last year, JaVale McGee came to the Warriors and played some solid basketball for the team. McGee gave the Warriors some good minutes throughout the regular season and playoffs. After last season’s performance, McGee has seemingly repaired his reputation. Nick Young might be trying to do the same. Young signed a one-year, $5.2 million deal with the Warriors today. The 32-year-old Young will give Golden State some more depth off the bench.

If he is flowing, “Swaggy P” can be a productive player. Young averaged 13.2 ppg with the Lakers last season. He can score the basketball. Playing on a one-year deal, and having an opportunity to win a NBA title should be enough to motivate the 10-year veteran.

Furthermore, Young played for Luke Walton last season with the Lakers. Walton, who was an assistant coach for the Warriors from 2014-16, reportedly was happy with Young’s performance last season. Walton’s endorsement is a good thing for the Warriors and Young.

With the return of Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, David West, and the addition of Nick Young, Golden State could be even better next season.  Wow! That’s scary!
